The short version
- 1Add a photo on the first screen — your badge won't work without one, and it's the commonest place people stall.
- 2Turn on location while you're there. The map can't find your nearest door without it.
- 3Watch the short walkthrough — it's required, and it's under two minutes.
- 4Read your badge and confirm it. Reading it is the point; the name on it is the name a homeowner sees.
- 5The last screen lists anything still missing and takes you straight back to it.
The first time you sign in, setup takes over the whole screen and stays there until it’s done. You can’t tab away from it — and that’s deliberate, because half of it is things a homeowner will see.
It’s five screens and about five minutes. You can go back to an earlier one at any point.
1. Complete your profile
Whatever your admin typed when they added you is already filled in. Anything they didn’t is an empty box.
- First and last name — required. These are the name printed on your badge.
- A photo — tap the circle. See the warning below.
- Phone and job title — offered, not required.
- Email, role and team — shown but locked. Those are your admin’s to change, not yours.
What you type here is saved to the phone as you go. If your signal drops between your last keystroke and Continue, the form is still there.
2. App setup
Four cards. None of them blocks Continue, and that’s worth knowing — but two of them matter a great deal to how the app works for you.
Location. Tap Turn on location and say yes to the phone. Without it the map can’t work out which door is nearest you, which is most of what the map is for. If you already said yes at some point, the card just says it’s on and doesn’t ask again.
If you’ve previously said no, there’s no button here — the app can’t ask a second time once you’ve refused. You have to undo it in the phone’s own settings. On an iPhone: Settings → Safari → Location, or find Allstar in your app list if you’ve added it to your home screen.
Notifications. Tap to allow. Nothing is sent yet — the card says so — but saying yes now means follow-up reminders and appointment alerts reach this phone when they start. On an iPhone this option only appears once Allstar is on your home screen, so if the card points you at the install card, do that first.
Add to your home screen. See Put Allstar on Your Phone’s Home Screen. Worth two minutes.
Camera and photos. Nothing to turn on. A browser only asks about the camera the first time you actually take a photo, so the card just tells you to expect that and say yes.
3. Learn the basics
A short walkthrough of the screens you’ll use. It’s under two minutes, and finishing it is one of the required items at the end — so watching it is faster than not watching it.
You can replay it any time afterwards: More → Show the tutorial again.
4. Your team member badge
Your badge is created the moment this screen opens, and the number on it is yours for good. What you do here is read it and say it’s right.
Check, in this order:
- Your name, spelled the way you’d want a stranger to read it.
- Your photo — is it obviously you?
- Your company and your role.
Then tap to confirm. Confirming is its own action with its own timestamp, and setup won’t move on without it, because a badge nobody has read is a badge with somebody else’s typo on it.
If the screen says it can’t create a badge because there’s no name, it’ll offer to take you back to screen 1. That’s the only reason it fails.
5. Ready to sell
A checklist. Everything on it comes from the server, not from a tick this screen decided to draw, so it’s an honest account of where you actually are.
Required — these hold up the Complete button:
- Profile complete (first and last name)
- Profile photo added
- Team / role assigned — your admin did this when they added you
- App walkthrough completed
- Team member badge created
- Badge information confirmed
Recommended — these don’t hold anything up, and say so:
- Location enabled
- Notifications enabled
- Added to your home screen
Anything required that isn’t done has a way back to the screen that fixes it, right there on the line. Tap it, fix it, come back.
After you’re done
Setup doesn’t come back. You land on Today, and from there see the Rep Quick Start Guide for what the day actually looks like.
The only time you’ll see any of this again is if your company adds a new setup step later — and then it’s just the new one, not all five again.
